weekly vinyl #14

This week's vinyl post is up on EM now. Sometimes I get lucky enough to have a guest post a song, and this week I'm very pleased to introduce Jay (Time Machine). He dropped Henry Mancini's "Pink Panther" performed by Paul Blake & The Bloodfire Posse.

Stones Throw x Stussy Tour

In addition to the tour news, the Stones Throw newsletter has two dope songs (mp3s) available. One from Mayer Hawthorne and an exclusive of "Let's Take Off (Far Away)," from kir.radio favorite Dam-Funk. Soo good! I'm also really interested in hearing more from Folerio!
Fresh off of their sold-out European Tour, Peanut Butter Wolf, James Pants, Dam-Funk, and Mayer Hawthorne are now touring the US & Canada. Peanut Butter Wolf will be mixing music videos live, James Pants is performing live with his band The Royal Zodiac, and Dam-Funk and Mayer Hawthorne will be playing records. Mayer Hawthorne will also perform a few songs live.
The Stones Throw x Stussy 2009 Tour kicks off in LA featuring the debut live performance by Mayer Hawthorne & The County and James Pants & The Royal Zodiac. Exclusive tour merch will only be available at the shows (music + tees) including the limited-edition Stussy x Stones Throw Tour Tees. Four shirts created (2 designs, 2 colorways): two only available at the shows and the other two only available at select Stussy locations.

I was raised to think that I have to be completely independent and be able to do things on my own because one day all the people around me could be gone. Thinking back on it now, the extremity of that situation sounds silly (even moreso for someone on the outside looking in), but it was a fact of life at the time.
I realize the turn of 2009 was three months ago, but I've been thinking a lot about the things I've learned recently. It's ok to ask for help sometimes. I grew bitter for a while because I felt like the efforts I were making were not being reciprocated or appreciated. I know it sounds selfish to say, "Why give, if I'm not getting?" But turning out bitter isn't good either. I learned that that's the line where I should stop and find a balance. I'm still learning.
In any case, despite my current circumstances, I feel good that I can look back and learn from my mistakes. There are a lot of people I need to thank for that. I'll be seeing them soon. I've got quite a road ahead.

full moon

i read my horoscope recently and it said that the full moon this month will be a really good thing for me. my mom always said that that stuff was from the devil. i dunno though, i'm gonna see what happens (i'm sorry Mom and God). but what have i got to lose? time spent thinking about it and feeling dumb? i'm unemployed right now and shit is mad real. so anyway, susan said that it's "hard to even fathom" that i don't get what i want, so fuck it. i'm listening to her. for now.
