Time Machine "(Out Of) CONTROL"

Time Machine x Kid Sister x Janet Jackson - (Out Of) CONTROL (mp3)

I'm looking forward to Life Is Expensive. I'll just say this, from what I've heard on it so far... ooweeee!

Talking To Myself

A few years ago the only electronic/dancey/higher bpm type music I can remember listening to was by LCD Soundsystem, Chromeo, The Juan MacLean, or Cut Copy. Oh, there was Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz 4 also, but that wasn't higher bpm. He had Pete Rock, People Under The Stairs, and a bunch of other peeps on it who I can't remember right now. I was a mixed up backpacker exploring. I was just discovering things like this new M.I.A. girl, some band called Arcade Fire, Bad Dudes, Captain Ahab, The Notwist, Ratatat, Broken Social Scene... all the while being stuck on the Special Herbs series, Madvillainy, and any (possibly overlooked) early 90s hip hop jams I could find. I also have to mention dudes like P.U.T.S., Longevity Crew, Jeshno, Giant Panda, The Procussions, Edan, Mr. Lif, and Time Machine. Those guys ran my playslists back then. Yesterday's New Quintet was making me crazy too. I know it's only a few years ago, but I guess it seems like music, for me, has changed so much since then. I guess a lot of things have changed for me since then. I probably would have said "slept on" instead of "possibly overlooked" back then too. But before I derail completely, these are a few songs that remind me of then.

Cut Copy - That Was Just A Dream (mp3)
LCD Soundsystem - Losing My Edge (mp3)
The Juan MacLean - Tito's Way (mp3)
Ratatat - Seventeen Years (mp3)
Mr. Lif - Get Wise '91 ft Edan (mp3)
Metal Fingers - Saffron (mp3)
Broken Social Scene - Swimmers (mp3)

Anyone going to the Natural History Musem's First Fridays this Friday (2/1)? A-Track and Kid Sister are on the bill. If it's anything like the Flavorpill one in NYC last Friday (with special surprise performance) I'd say this is a can't miss for only $9.

BOOBS

This Myspace page is written by a straight Female, and she is trying to find out why men love boobs so much. I received a Myspace friend request from "BOOBS," I guess because I fit into her sample demographic. That demographic being, men. In any case, I would have to say that this is a trap. Yes fellas. A Good Ol' Classic, Ol' Fashion Booby Trap (yes, i went there).

I mean, how could anyone resist from commenting on it? Really. Even if you're a Female and just so happen to be upset by this. Actually, especially if you're a Female and upset by this.

And theeeen, how could anyone not read at least one comment on this page? Did you read "2 NUEVOS TEMAS (SOHA)"'s comment?

"hey!!
jaja.
I don't know, but i Like ur boobs!!
:)
jaja
take care
1 kiss!"

THAT guy is hilarious. and with comments like that, how is it possible NOT to be entertained. I wanna check back and see what somebody else will say next.

Not sold yet? What about "bigg's" comment?

"because we have something to look at while we talk to women, and there just so sexy and good while having sex."

Oh, and I can't forget his comment to the profile picture.

"let me feel those."

Wow. Just, wow.
Genious.

The Rain

By Oran "Juice" Jones. The first R&B artist on Def Jam, signed to the OBR Records label, a subsidiary of Def Jam. What if he were a comedian? I mean, after the half way point of this video... oh my gosh. Could he BE any funnier?

Heartfood Presents: Last Year's Weeding Dance-Off Part 1

Heartfood Presents is obliterating things right now. I'm not gonna tell you that this mix is super fantastic or even way dopeass. I mean, who listens to mixes of hip hop radio hits from a few years ago anyway? (apparently, i do.) What it is, however, is fire. At first I was listening to this thing thinking, "psssh, it's like whatever." Then, all of a sudden, my ears started burning and a small flame broke out. Coincidentally, some very pretty supermodels were nearby. They then proceeded to rush into the room, and put the fire out with their clothing (now unworn). (and Yes, this is a true story, and no I'm not a misogynistic woman objectifier. Those bastards.) What REALLY gets me though, is that Heartfood Presents just keep churning these mixes out, and the mix is not one bit pretentious. I dunno, pretentious individuals fascinate me. Were they not hugged enough as a child or are they just stupid? In any case, here's the mix. It's FIRE.

Risky Business

I ran across this video on Panda Toes today. It's a news interview about an Australian kid who throws a raging party while his parents are out of town. He gets in big trouble and, in the news piece, it's described as "the real life Risky Business." Sounds like it was fun.

Del The Funky Homosapien "Bubble Pop"

I spotted this new Del song on GvsB. I haven't been hearing much new Hip Hop out of the West lately, so this is definitely good to hear. The single is off the upcoming release, Eleventh Hour which will be out March 11th on Def Jux. Some personal bonus tracks below too. They won't be up for long though.

Del The Funky Homosapien - Bubble Pop (mp3)
Bob James - Take Me To The Mardi Gras (mp3)
Del The Funky Homosapien - Eye Examination (mp3)

The homie Clockwork actually turned me on to "Eye Examination." Apparently it's available only on the b-side of the "Dr. Bombay" single.

Rhymefest Man In The Mirror

Oh snap. I was checking out another one of my favorite blogs today, when I ran across this Michael Jackson tribute album. It's Rhymefest's album, Man In The Mirror and he's partnered up, once again, with musical collaborative homie Mark Ronson. I read a Michael Jackson interview in Ebony earlier this year, which only fueled my intrigue for an MJ comeback. I think the last time I've heard new MJ material, that didn't suck, was "Remember The Time." And that one was only kinda eh too. In any case, hear the Man In The Mirror album for yourself and download on Rhymefest's site here.
