Talking To Myself
A few years ago the only electronic/dancey/higher bpm type music I can remember listening to was by LCD Soundsystem, Chromeo, The Juan MacLean, or Cut Copy. Oh, there was Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz 4 also, but that wasn't higher bpm. He had Pete Rock, People Under The Stairs, and a bunch of other peeps on it who I can't remember right now. I was a mixed up backpacker exploring. I was just discovering things like this new M.I.A. girl, some band called Arcade Fire, Bad Dudes, Captain Ahab, The Notwist, Ratatat, Broken Social Scene... all the while being stuck on the Special Herbs series, Madvillainy, and any (possibly overlooked) early 90s hip hop jams I could find. I also have to mention dudes like P.U.T.S., Longevity Crew, Jeshno, Giant Panda, The Procussions, Edan, Mr. Lif, and Time Machine. Those guys ran my playslists back then. Yesterday's New Quintet was making me crazy too. I know it's only a few years ago, but I guess it seems like music, for me, has changed so much since then. I guess a lot of things have changed for me since then. I probably would have said "slept on" instead of "possibly overlooked" back then too. But before I derail completely, these are a few songs that remind me of then.
Cut Copy - That Was Just A Dream (mp3)
LCD Soundsystem - Losing My Edge (mp3)

Ratatat - Seventeen Years (mp3)
