Sunset Junction '07

Some artists on this year's Sunset Junction schedule include Deniece Williams, Morris Day & The Time, Division Day, Autolux, Blonde Redhead, Millie Jackson, The O'Jays, Hot Hot Heat, and more. I'm personally really looking forward to Morris Day & The Time. Sunset Junction is August 18 & 19.

MM..Food

MF Doom's MM..Food is being reissued. I'm at a love/hate with this thing. and I'm not trying to be pretentious at all, but I was bumping "Potholderz" like crazy on the radio show in '04 and for pretty much all of '05. MM..Food was on major rotation in my car when I first got it too. Although, the reissue is coming with a DVD and all kinds of extra stuff too so I guess it's not so bad. I'm seriously torn over this kind of shit. I'm serious. I hate it. Anyways, MF doom is dope and so are these promo videos. but with the wealth of dopeness and output from him in the last few years (tangent), I guess it really would be hard to compete with himself. I'll probably end up getting a disc for myself though. Buy it for me here. please:)

And speaking of Doom, a while back I had mentioned the homie Nosaj Thing who had entered the Plastic Little and Turntablelab remix contest, in which he remixed a Plastic Little song featuring MF Doom. I just found out today that he won! Plastic Little listed the winners at the end of their "Dopeness" video. Dude, I'm really excited. and it's not just because he's been a guest on the radio show in the past either. The shit is noice. Check the snippit below:

Plastic Little - More Tongue ft. MF Doom (Nosaj Thing Remix) (mp3) via Shesmature

On top of it all, despite Plastic Little being some crazy sounding dudes that scare me, I'm really feeling them. For one; I really like Fuck Your Blog, Son. Another thing that really got me is this one line they have posted on their website. Also, they seem pretty fun and smart. Check out their "Dopeness" video along with some of their other videos here. Excuse my lack of adjectives, but I think this is some dope shit. So anyway, back to Doom... cop the MM..Food album! for me. I'm broke. haha. bye.

Dance

It's Saturday, it's summer, and I really like to dance. Yeah man. I'm serious. I know, it's hard to believe. People sometimes confuse me for Arnold. But I just like getting so relaxed, crunked, and having a good time that I just wanna move my feet. It's pretty fun dude. jumping up and down, shakin dat bootay, going wild with the hands. Yeah, all of that. That stuff's good.

Carnifull Trio - Song for Guido (mp3)
Carnifull Trio - Song for Guido (Crookers Crunk Mix) (mp3)*
Scuola Furano - Sam (mp3)

Two very different sounding songs here, but both very dancable. I got these in the inbox, so if anyone knows more about Carnifull Trio and Scuola Furano please let me know. Crookers is dope. "Song for Guido" sounds like The Sea and Cake made a dance song for James Bond. "Sam" is on that house/disco/dance tip. Dance!

Filipino Mania Week on VBS

Filipino Mania week just ended on VBS.TV. That's pretty cool I guess. They put my peoples on there, but I don't know if they're making fun of us or what. Although, I do know that if they are, I wanna say this to them, "Dude. Fuck you guys man. That's fucked up BRO. I don't know what's goin on, but if you're poking fun. Maaan, that's fucked up yo. Fuck you guys dude." However, I did watch all of the Filipino episodes on the VBS Travel channel and I gotta say, I was engaged. Seriously. I hardly watch regular TV anymore, but I can find some insanely addicting things to watch on VBS. Those bastards are good.

DJ Alibi

2007, Tres Records

Tres delivers with a single from newcomer DJ Alibi. The featured track is "Let's Ride" with Insight on the mic. I can't post it because you should really buy it, but here's a snippit of one of the tracks off the single. A Hip-Hop Samba feel for the summertime. Definitely choice.

"Paid, was havin people start to clap."

1994, Wild West Records/American Recordings

I think it was Julio G and Melo-D who introduced me to "Mix Tapes." No, not personally. My radio dial would be tuned in to 92.3 The Beat, then they would drop this song, and then I would turn up the volume. "Mix Tapes" by The Nonce was definitely nice. but only after heading out to Street Beat in Pomona back then, is when I realized the b-side cut "Eighty Five" was the reason to buy this single.
