A pimp not a simp

Self described as "Mack Music at its best," I can attest to the playerlistic and funkyness of this song. The song's got a guitar riff which repeatedly repeats, but somehow I am not mad at. It's complimented with a bouncy bass on the 8s which eases a head nod at no expense to its listener, being almost reminiscent of old west coast laid back gangsta cuts. Then dash the song with a sweet sweet flute counter melody and Minnesota Slick's lyrics and you got "Hat and Shoes." Now it don't matter if you like ice in your drink and wear the whitest mink or keep the dope fiends higher than the goodyear blimp, I'm just sayin. The song is my steez. I mean, I can't help it if pimp juice flows through my veins. Now don't be a simp playa cause now you know you gots to look out for the Slick's Box album on the Hieroglyphics label.

"Give it up to me"
Sean Paul f/ Keysha Cole Remix

OK. I'm SOOOoo lying about the video remix. But titling it 'Representing America, Rachel Smith falls on her ass for all to see' would be kinda dull--it's quick and to-the-point but just unimaginative. Rachel's crushed tailbone almost remids me of this video.

Double or nothing

Ohmagah. "Real Talk" could very well be the very best song of 2007. I'm sorry. My bad. Let me clear that up. "Real Talk" is the very best song of 2007. It really can't get no realer than that. and I am being dead serious. Makes me wanna get in a realationship with a girl like that, just so I could write this song. Where "I'm A Flirt" crescendos to what I thought was the height of Kells tomfoolery, "Real Talk" picks it up and throws that shit in yo momma's face in exponential numbers. real hard. and when... nevermind. I don't wanna ruin the song. I just love that shit. But what could one expect. It's Kell's. It's ya boy.friend. He's the king of R&B.

Kell's game is at an unbearable high and I can not front on Double Up. You only need know some of the song titles to be sold on this mug. The Zoo. Hook It Up. Havin' a Baby. Sex Planet. I Like Love. Freaky In The Club. Should I continue? I didn't think so. The album is out next week and I'd post a song, but I can't because it's that good. You could probably find it somewhere anyway right. But I'm not that mean. so if you want, there's an R.Kells vs Broken Social Scene mash-up via GvsB over here.

Office Boy

I have no idea what they're saying, but for some reason I totally love this shit. and I don't know why. but who needs a reason right? Soo, I took the liberty of translating it. They say something about a hot boy at the office and then they go, "Look at this hot boy dance in the sky with only diapers on." and then they go, "Bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo bo boy. Hey!" or something like that. Trust me. I know what I'm talking about. Ok, you got me. I don't know what they're saying, but I still like it. Here's their Myspace. Yow!

Cruisin'

Photo from jezblog

Dood, I think I can get used to this commuting thang. I hop on the Redline, have a few drinks at Traxx, jump on the train, start writing or do whatevers, and cruise. Woohoooooo, it's like there's a party in my head! I just pop on the jams in the earpiece and chillax to the max. Wow, am I buzzed? Who cares. My boo gots to pick my bootay up in Irvine today (it's a long story), so I took the Amtrak instead of the usual Metrolink train. Maybe this dopeass Amtrak train has something to do with it. Although taking this train costs a bit more, it's kind of worth it because the seats have little individual tables like on airplanes. except with twice as much leg room. Right now little tables and extra leg room are way worth the extra bucks. In short, note to self, splurg and get the little tables and extra leg room once in a while duder.

I read a blog post from TSS last week and dood was talking about how good his life was at that moment. The infectiousness of it rubbed off and I couldn't help but think, I wish I felt that way. I wish I could rub some of that gooood feeling off on any peeps who read this blog. Granted our sponsor for this evening fuels me... but dood, they gots power outlets on the Amtrak yo. OMG. Life is aiight. especially since I got to kick it with some homies this weekend, who I haven't got to kick with in a while. The homie full_thrust even told us stories of his escapades with one literally piss drunk dood. Wow, I can't think of much that can get better than that. On top of it all, since I'm going all the way to Irvine today I think I may even have time to read thru my new copy of the Fader featuring Deadhead Jerry Garcia. It's the little things man. Music time.

If there was a "dopeness" to "slept-on" ratio grade in hip hop music these guys would get an A+++++. and I'm not just saying that because they're homies. or because we've had them on the show in the past. These guys come with the realness and I ain't mad at that jack. I've also wondered if they knew about this when they used that Bloodsport quote in their 2004 song, As Live As It Gets. I don't think so. and I ain't mad at that either because trust, it gets live. and what the hell is a dim mak? Find out...

another video. gyeah!

Remember that story I told you about being wannabe east coast and stuff? And I'm not talking about the pole dancing story. Because FLASHPOINT wrote that one and I have nothing to do with that whatsoever in the least bit at all 100% totally completely. Just sayin. You know, cause he's so funny and should post more often. And take the credit for being so funny. Yeah. So anyway, back when I was wannabe east coast we used to throw these parties that were super jiggy and to keep it real in the streets we went to a lot of house parties and got into mad cyphers yo. I'd say stupid stuff like, "Hey man, you got a big ass son. And just so you know. I didn't write that last one." But the homie Reggie along with his friend Jern One, now known as Jern Eye, would kill it on the freestyle. Oooh man, and the DJ would put on instrumentals like "Tried By 12" and... and... and that was it... just "Tried By 12." But anyway, this is Jern Eye now.

How pole dancing is like
sweet, self-induced karma

Don't start the video yet!

You see... this girl is thinking "That's right boys. Look at me. I'm hot shit. You can't handle none of this. Why? Cause I'M HOT SHIT". Then, because she is gaining all this confidence by dancing in front of all these dudes, she all of a sudden starts to think "They LOVE me! I can do NO wrong! I think I'll do 'The Trick'...yeah... THAT will seal the deal...I'll be famous in these here parts." Then she does "the trick". So how is this like sweet, self-induced karma? Well... think of that girl as your big showy-offy boss guy that you look at everyday and think to yourself in livid frustration and anger how one day his time will come...

Ok, start the video...

In the ninety now

Did I mention? that the current Palms Out Sample Wednesday has got a Boot Camp Clik dedicated series this week. If you know me, then you know that I gots MAD love for the BCC, etc. I'd geek out and link to some past posts to prove it, but I don't have any. However, you can filter through some old playlists if you want, but I'm not. It'll take way too long and filtering sucks. plus I'm drunk. But in exchange, I will expose a sort of embarrassing truth to prove my "fan-ness" of the BCC, etc. At a certain time in high school I wished I was from the east coast. I would rock Timbaland boots and a khaki hat tilted to the side all day eyday. It was right after the time I was wearing Chucks and Ben Davis shirts. There. Done. Now time for the straight heat God.

p.s. See. drunk aaaaand no spelling errors! Booyaa.

Like A Thief In The Night

Photo via Joysmith

New Mos Def... Actually it's a new song by HBO Def Poet, Amir Sulaiman and it features Mos on verse 1 and on the hook. The beat is repetitive and there isn't much of a composition at all to the song, but you know I can't pass up a one-off Mos track. The upcoming Amir Sulaiman album, Like A Thief In The Night has some appearances from Goapele and The Last Poets.

Finding It Hard To Write The Next Line

I thought this was kinda dumb and cheesy but kinda funny when it first came out. Ok, I'm lying. I loved this shit. It popped up on the iPod shuffle mode today. Right after doing the Traxx thang that I do every once in a while. Actually, it probably still is dumb and chessy but I'm kinda drunk so whatever. Paul Anka came out with this album and he covered a bunch of popular songs. Kinda like the upcoming Mark Ronson album (or current album... depending on what part of the world you live in, but this is the world wide web last time i checked. note to record labels, go international on us dudes. that would be so dope). Sorry for the tangents. But whatever. I'm drunk. So here's the song. It's a cover of a Bon Jovi jam. I know. But dood. This really hot girl in fif grade liked Jon Bon Jovi and so I fell for her Bon Jovi schpeel. She said something about this band called Bon Jovi with a dude in it named Jon Bon Jovi and how he was hot, but the name of the dude was actually different than the name of the band and stuff. I don't really remember. I let her get answers from my state capitals test too. Sucks though because she liked Joey Bunker, but that's another story. Did I mention? i'm drunk.

Here's another one just because.
