Win/Win

I was looking for a new place to live because commuting is not that fun and my 'party on the freeway' idea never really flew. Seesh. However, in my roomhunt, I unexpectedly ran across this MySpace page on someone's craigslist post.

Now I'm gonna try to one-up my room searching competitor bastards with this post. (bribery, completely) The song I'm about to post is noice though, so it's like a win/win situation. Woohoo.

Check out We Operate Man. He's got a fun cover for "Hey Ya" on his MySpace page too. Dope!

Daylight Savings who? Go to jail!

This is kinda funny, but kinda not, but kinda is.

High school kid, Cory Webb was put in jail for 12 days for supposedly calling in a fake bomb threat. He didn't do it though. The school forgot to adjust its caller ID for daylight savings and mistook him for the lousy culprit. Apparently the school received the bomb threat at 3:17am and Webb actually called in an hour earlier.

But he's probably a hoodlum anyway right? I mean, why would anyone be calling a school at 2:17am? And who was the real culprit? How was this not figured out for 12 whole days? So many questions unanswered. However, there's this...

Webb gave an insight into the school's impressive investigative techniques, saying that he was ushered in to see the principal, Kathy Charlton. She asked him what his phone number was, and , according to Webb, when he replied 'she started waving her hands in the air and saying “we got him, we got him.”'

Oh that Kathy. What a futsy nut.

Cory Webb will never get that time back. Sad. I bet Boy George understands.

La Haine

This is some great news for me. I read that La Haine is being released in the states. Yeah! Ever since Human Being and Fly Jawn showed me the film I've been on a search. There have been countless times I have asked various French friends if they have La Haine and they proceeded to look at me in pure disgust. But why amis? Parlay vu fransay. Au revoire Ricky Booby. I'm rambling. Video time!

New Nosaj Thing Song

The many facets of Harrison Ford make me think of one thing and one thing only. And that one thing is Nosaj Thing's new song "Harrison Ford." And it's not just because Nosaj has been on the show either. The song is dope. Especially when it goes ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne ne. Oh shit! HOT! You gotta hear it for yourself. It's on his Myspace here.

Fuk Dat

It was around '93 or '94 and I had just started DJing. I was confused (i still am), I had an even wacker haircut than I do now, and I would go to Street Beat in Pomona. (yeah, they flipped the name of the movie around and slapped it on their record store.) It was cool at the time. There weren't many other record stores in the area and since my mom had to take me, it was the only place. I even saw my first DJ battle there. I can't remember who won the battle, but I remember DJ Redline was in it. It was cool too because they had record listening stations. That was one of the main things I looked for in a record store back then. So yeah, I was confused. I always thought, "Should I keep it real and only buy the songs I wanted, or should I get the party joints that were popular and on the radio?" So I would pick up a weird mix of records like Ill Communication/Get It Together, Pink Cookies in a Plastic Bag, Crossover (EPMD), Bucktown, I Got Cha Opin, You're the One For Me, Come Clean and some other really really fonky wonky teenk tonk shit (i dunno what that means).

So, here's a fonky wonky teenk tonk track from back then. It's beginning to get hard to find tracks that aren't already posted other blogs so hope you enjoy. Maybe someone out there will remix this. I loved this joint.
