Life...

in the U.S. of A. is pretty peachy. Check it.

Tuesday, July 25, 2006

It has to do with lots of lovin and it ain't nothin nice...

1) Do...

"Don't have a phobia about homos. If some San Francisco nudist comes up to you and says, "Hello," don't run away. Shake his hand. Shit, don't even shake his hand. Shake his dick."

2) Don't...

"We like weird 70s bathing suit Playboy shit but when you throw brown nylons in the mix the deal is off. Sorry Hooters and all of Asia but brown nylons are basically big long plastic socks and they make your feet stink so bad they are kryptonite to boners."

3) Do...

"The science behind skirts is guys like them because they emphasize entry positions and allude to easy access. So when you emphasize that instinct by adding puffy feathers to your ass it's basically like when a brain surgeon pushes on a certain part of your frontal lobe and it makes your right thumb move, only it's your dink."

4) Don't...

"It's great how just as he's making a huge mistake he's staring at a cover-up of another huge mistake."

Miss Universe 2006

I didn't really follow the Miss Universe thing, but I happened to see the part where the last few finalists do that Q&A thing. Miss Japan, Kurara Chibana had the best answer. She said something about how all women are hot & sexy and all men should get did up the butt. Just kidding. I don't remember what she said, but it was somehting kind of like that and it was really good. Thing is, from my thorough 28 second observation she seemed like you could actually have a conversation with her. She should have won.

Instead, Miss Puerto Rico ended up winning. She's an aspiring actress who hopes to someday star in U.S. and Latin American films. Now that is some unique shit right there. I don't know. Call me crazy, but she looked kind of like Skelator from He-Man too. So lucky.

I tried, but I couldn't resist posting this sweet ear cheeba. The first time I played the song Phil was like, "Wait a second. She sound's kind of cute. Is she hot?" You know you want to know. Stereogum wanted to know too.

First Lady of Grime | Love Me Or Hate Me

Lady Sov
is comin' with a new single, Love Me Or Hate Me. Word is, she's "the biggest midget in the game" and I wouldn't doubt that we may be hearing a lot more from the UK shorty.

The beat sort of reminds me of a Planet Rock slash Ciara 1 2 step thing that'll make booties bounce.

Battle of the MFs | Grimm & Doom

It's crew beef, and when it comes to crew beef I kind of don't even want to talk about it. They were once close friends and crew, both still a part of M.I.C. [Monsta Island Czars].

Grimm got a lot off of his shoulders with his track, "Book of Daniel" and the issues seem to elude to money, pride, and convoluted communication. The track came out a few months ago and I know I'm late on it, but what strikes me about the track is that if you really listen to the lyrics, it is not so much a dis track as it is a painful letter. Grimm raps, "I didn't want to get at you. You know this is true [...] now I gotta do, what I gotta do."

The stories get deep when Grimm vaguely mentions numerous accounts with Doom.

"We looked out for each other when you lived up town. On the cover of the EP, but look at us now."

"We been through so much. Damn you was close to me. Used to come to your house. Buy your ass groceries."

"I made a mistake. Told the press you owed dough. I see now it's my fault. They didn't need to know. I apologized to you. I thought we let it go. BB Kings, New York. Together, did a show. But look at us now. Once again, here we go. Money wasn't worth it. It turned us into foes. Whenever you had beef. Your beef was mine. I'd take a life for you. Put mine on the line."

"Book of Daniel" was apparently sparked by Doom's track, "El Chupa Nibre" when he makes a reference to M.I.C. "Once was in a rhyme crew, monkeys into crime."

If you’re a big Doom fan [like me] you know Doom is always talking like he’s on some other out there type shit, but somehow it all kind of makes sense. I think of his lyrics like inside jokes, but instead of jokes they’re really more like personal issues and/or beefs, with which only the target of his content and he knows. This track slowly puts together the mystery that is Doom, but his darkness is still present and I still wonder what's next in the story of the shadowy villain?

The Polish Ambassador

What's the deal with all the Polish jokes? Seriously. I never really understood why we would make those jokes about Polish people. From reading The Polish Ambassador blog I gained a little insight into the whole deal. The Polish Ambassador makes these cool synth songs with even cooler descriptions for each song. Surprisingly, the descriptions really fit the songs too. "I Wish I Was an Earthworm" with the apprpriate one-line description of, "How kickass would it be if you were an earthworm?" really makes me wonder... "How kickass would it be if I really were an earthworm?" Probably not that kickass, but the song does make me wonder. He's got a bunch of other songs that make me wonder about Mechanical Lumberjacks, Oxygenating Mars, and all sorts of other things like that as well. I'm just sayin is all...

All sound samples and descriptions of his songs are available on his site.

Shine Through | Do Over

Christine and I randomly hit up the Do Over tonight and realized Aloe Blacc's album, Shine Through is coming out next week. I've been looking forward to it for a while. The way Aloe has grown from his days as one half of Emanon is like wathcing a young Theo grow into what made him the best Cosby kid. (Rudy was cool when she was little, but Theo just got better and better as the years went by). And speaking of Emanon, look out for DJ Exile's album, Dirty Science, on the Sound in Color Label.

Well back to the lecture at hand, Aloe Blacc's album is dropping on July 11 and I think the Do Over the Sunday before that (7/9) is going to be the bomb. But don't take my word for it...
